Laboratoire Mixte International LOTUS – “Land Ocean aTmosphere regional coUpled System”

 

The International Joint Laboratory LOTUS - “Land Ocean aTmosphere regional coUpled System was launched in 2018, with Directors are Dr. Marine Herrmann, Director of WEO department, Director HILO , USTH, VAST and Assoc. Prof. Ngo Duc Thanh, Vice-Rector of USTH, Group leader of REMOSAT, USTH, VAST.

LOTUS emerged from previous projects gathering researchers from Vietnamese and French teams, now willing to build a federative common laboratory at USTH to contribute to answer to Viet Nam demand and needs for a sustainable development.

The goal of LOTUS is to build a state-of-the art laboratory for environmental studies gathering scientists from different fields and teams, in strong connection with education programs of international standards. We aim to develop an innovative integrated approach to study the transport and fate of water and matter in the river-estuary-ocean continuum focusing on North Viet Nam.
