Master Open Day at FPT University

On July 5th, 2017, the representatives of Rector Board of the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) had a meeting with students from FPT University to introduce about the Master on Information Technology and Communication (ICT) and Master on Quantitative and Computational Finance (QCF). During the meeting with the representatives of the Rector Board of FPT University, both universities discussed about the upcoming cooperative plans.

On July 5th 2017, Assoc. Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh - Vice Rector of USTH with Assoc. Prof. Luong Chi Mai, Co-Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department and Dr. Nguyen Hoang Thach - Scientific Assistant of the Quantitative and Computational Finance (QCF) had a meeting with Dr. Nguyen Kim Anh - Vice Rector of FPT University and Ms. Pham Tuyet Hanh Ha - Head of Student Affairs Department. With the purpose of improving the cooperation between two universities, USTH and FPT shared the strengths of each other as well as the common points in the training field.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh, as a research-oriented university, USTH is very interested in expanding cooperation with  other universities having practical training fields, especially FPT University, one of the leading universities in Information Technology with the great support from FPT Corporation.

During the meeting, both universities discussed some plans to execute the cooperative agreement for example student exchange programs and lecturers, and joint research projects. Details of the activities will be discussed further.

USTH also introduced the Master on ICT and QCF to FPT university’s students. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Thach said due to the scarcity of human resources in QCF in the labor market, QCF has been introduced for the first time at USTH in 2017. USTH now has been becoming the first university in Hanoi to open QCF. The QCF’s lecturers are experts coming from the Institute of Mathematics, and senior staff working at the Bank. These special lecturers will share practical experiences for example apply Financial data processing in Banking.

Assoc.Prof. Luong Chi Mai said as the result of 4.0 industrial revolutions (Big Data), Artificial Intelligence (AI), information technology will affect to the development of all economic sectors. The demand of high quality human resources in the IT industry will grow strongly. The Master on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) practical will provide students with competitive advantage during the job search.

The information exchange between USTH and FPT University took a short time, but it brought a lot of good impression, promising potential for cooperation between the two universities in the future.
