From March 30 to April 3, 2020, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH, Vietnam France University), Institute of Research for Development (IRD) and Rencontre du Vietnam will jointly organize an international conference entitled “Climate change in the Asia-Pacific region: From environmental aspects to socio-economic impacts” at the International Center of Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), Quy Nhon, Vietnam.

The Asia-Pacific region, which is considered as the refuge of more than half of the world's population, is coping with acute problems due to the effects of climate change such as storms, floods, droughts and seawater, sea level rise, coastal erosion,... Every year, people suffer from natural disasters with increase in frequency and intensity.

In this context, USTH, Institute of Research for Development (IRD), Rencontre du Vietnam, with the support of the France Development Agency (AFD), Embassy of France in Vietnam will jointly organize the International conference “Climate change in the Asia-Pacific region: From environmental aspects to socio-economic impacts" to call attention and active participation of local and international scientists as well as young researchers.

The seminar will gather a great number of experienced experts in the field of climate change from leading research institutes and universities, for example Tokyo University, Paris-Sud University, University of Kebangsaan, University of Wollongong, Institute of Research for Development, France Development Agency...

The seminar with the topic “Climate change in the Asia-Pacific region: From environmental aspects to socio-economic impacts" will take place at ICISE Center located in Quy Nhon, Vietnam. A number of important topics will be presented , including:

  • Climate system

  • Socio-ecological systems and biodiversity

  • Impacts on society

  • Adaptation, mitigation and resilience

  • From climate projections to impacts and solutions: case studies in Asia-Pacific
