Lecturer in Aeronautical Structure/ Materials



  1. Introduction

With the aim of building an advanced model in the Higher Education system in Vietnam, promoting innovation and bringing the quality of Higher Education in Vietnam to a high level in the region and the world, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) was established in 2010 in Vietnam. USTH is operated under the Intergovernmental Agreement between Vietnam and France, signed on November 12 2009 and the Decision No. 2067/QD-TTg dated December 9 2009 of the Prime Minister.

 As an international public university with a new model of organization and operation, USTH is offering teaching programs in association with plenty of practical exercises and internships at USTH and our partners’ laboratories, such as: research centres, enterprises in Vietnam and abroad. USTH is strongly supported in the academic field through a French consortium of over fourty higher education and research institutions and by the French government. USTH plans to increase its student number and to develop strong interactions between education, research and industry.

  1. Objectives of the assignment 

Along with the help of Vietnam Airlines, VAECO, Airbus and French Civil Aviation University (ENAC), USTH plans to launch Aeronautical Engineering training program at both Bachelor's and Master's level. The first semester is expected to begin on September 2018 and admit students since the end of 2017. 

 Aeronautical Engineering graduates who have gone through professional training and had good English skills can work for local airlines companies as well as international airlines companies such as Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways.... 

USTH is looking for lecturers involved in academic activities related to this training program.

  1. Scope of Work
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to the followings:
  • Giving courses on these following fields: 
    • ​​Introduction to aeronautics
    • Aerodynamics & Flight mechanics
    • Materials
    • Metrology & Computer science
    • Vibrations
    • Maintenance & reliability
    • Flight operations
    • Maintenance practices (TBC)
  • Assessing students’ coursework.
  • Performing academic and research tasks assigned or required as other lecturers of USTH.
  • Performing others tasks assigned or required by the Heads of FabLab, PLMCC and the Rectorate Board. 
      D. Qualifications, skill and experience requirements
  • Minimum Master Degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering/ fluid mechanics / physics or aeronautical engineering.
  • Professional experience in the aeronautical sector: airlines, MRO, manufacturer…, preferably in the maintenance area.
  • Fluency in English and be able to understand French. 
  • Relevant teaching experience in thermodynamics / propulsion or air conditioning.  
  • Strong pedagogical competences.
  • Ability to develop/deliver new courses with an efficient pedagogy with materials and good methodology under the support of experienced lecturers.
  • Willingness to learn and teach aeronautics.
  • Willingness to take part in the development of a new aeronautical university department over a minimum duration of 5 years.
