The Space and Aeronautics Department of USTH is organizing a seminar entitled "Magnetic Fields in the Universe" to be presented by Dr. Hoàng Chí Thiêm, researcher at CITA, from 17-18h Thursday, January 28. In this seminar, Dr. Hoàng Chí Thiêm (http://www.cita.utoronto.ca/~hoang/
) will discuss origin and evolution of cosmic magnetism, different techniques to observe magnetic fields from molecular clouds to galaxies, and the roles that magnetic fields play in star formation. Magnetic fields are ubiquitous in the Universe and play crucial roles in many astrophysical phenomena, including solar flares, ultra-high energy cosmic rays, and star formation. Upcoming observations with ALMA and Square Kilometer Array will provide a vast wealth of information on cosmic magnetism and its effects.
